Lord's Day: Dec 22, 2024 Preacher: Carlos Montijo Series: Seasoned with Grace Topic: Christmas Scripture: Galatians 4:1–6, Isaiah 9:6, Genesis 3:14–15, Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:18– 2:12, Luke 2:19–33, James 1:17–18, Romans 5:15–17
CORRECTIONS: I misspoke at around 00:14:00 when I said that God is not the Father. I meant to say that Jesus is not the Father in reference to Isaiah 9:6, where the Messiah is identified as the "Eternal Father," or, rather, the Father of Eternity. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all equally God: one in essence, three in Persons. I also misspoke at around 00:33:44 when I said that Jesus was born a sinner like everyone else. I meant to say that Mary was born a sinner like everyone else.
Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave although he is owner of everything, 2 but he is under guardians and stewards until the date set by the father. 3 So also we, while we were children, were enslaved under the elemental things of the world. 4 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, 5 so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” Galatians 4:1–6
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father [Father of Eternity], Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (LSB)
